Resident in Emergency & Critical Care at the School of Veterinary Sciences, Bristol/Langford

This is a residency position in a training program approved by the European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care tenable for 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory annual review of progress. It will incorporate a fixed term scholarship working towards a taught Masters in Veterinary Science during the last 3 years of the residency. The main role of the post-graduate student will be to join the dedicated ICU team that provides the referral service in canine and feline Emergency and Critical Care at Langford Vets. You will join our team of two boarded critical care specialists and five dedicated ICU nurses to receive training in all aspects of Emergency/Critical Care and will be expected to study for the postgraduate ECVECC Diploma. Residents will be involved in clinical research and will be required to submit for publication manuscripts based on their research work during the program. The MSc in Veterinary Science will develop your clinical research skills and enhance universally important skills such as scientific writing, critical reading and statistical analysis of data. You will also contribute to undergraduate teaching as part of the undergraduate medicine clinical rotation.

The Resident will be expected to undertake informal group teaching of undergraduate students undertaking rotations and a small amount of formal teaching. The position carries responsibilities for out of hours care of hospitalised patients and emergency first opinion and referral cases on a rota basis.

You must be a member (or eligible to become a member) of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons with 1 year in a recognized internship. You must satisfy the English Language requirements for the Masters in Veterinary Science program (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/study/language-requirements/profile-a/).

Conditions:

Six months Employment followed by a 3 Year Residency

£18,096 + £2,698 out of hours supplement per annum
