Paolo Martelli (DVM) graduated in Veterinary Medicine with honour in 1984 and since 2002 he is Full Professor of Internal Medicine (Veterinary Clinical Medicine) at Parma University - Department of Veterinary Sciences (formerly Faculty of Veterinary Medicine). Paolo Martelli was Head of the Department for 8 years and Vice Rector of the University of Parma for three years (2010-2013). Currently is Deputy Rectory of the University of Parma (2017-2023). He is Founding Father (2004) and Diplomate of the European College of Porcine Health Management (ECPHM). Paolo Martelli was President of the ECPHM (2016-2019) and currently Vice-President. He was President of the International Symposium on Emerging and re-emerging Pig Diseases (Rome – 2003) and of the 6th European Symposium on Porcine Health Management (Sorrento – Italy, 2014). He was chair of the Scientific Committee of the 24th IPVS/8th ESPHM – Dublin 2016. He acted as President of the Italian Pig Veterinary Society (1995-2001 and 2007-2013).
He has in charge the teaching of Physical examination and Internal Medicine - Clinics of Large Animals. The research activity focused on Porcine Health management, mainly to infectious (S. suis, Aujeszky’s Disease, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, PRRS, PMWS-PCVD, PED) and non infectious diseases.
