Dr. Giunti received his veterinary degree from the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, Italy, in 1999, and a PhD in veterinary clinical sciences from the same university in 2003. In 2002 he did a clinical fellowship of 6 months in the Section of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation of the Small Animal Clinic of the University of Bern (Switzerland). In 2004, he was employed as assistant professor at the University of Bologna, operating in the Small Animal Clinical Service of the Veterinary University Hospital (VUH). In 2006-2007 he did a research fellowship of 9 months on “biomarkers of sepsis in small animals” at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania (USA). In 2011 he was nominated Head of the new Service of Emergency Medicine at the Small Animal VUH of University of Bologna. Since 2015, he is associate professor and Head of the Small Animal Clinic of the VUH of the University of Bologna. His main research interests are on biomarkers of critical illness in small animals.
