The primary objectives of the ECVIM-CA are to advance companion animal internal medicine in Europe and to increase the competence of those who practice in the field by

• Training, examining and certifying veterinarians as specialists in companion animal internal medicine, cardiology and oncology
• Establishing guidelines for post-graduate education
• Encouraging research and other contributions to knowledge.
