Carolin graduated from the University of Gießen (Germany) in 2008. Following her doctoral thesis about the regeneration of retinal ganglion cells she undertook a general rotating internship. In 2012 she moved to the UK to complete an ophthalmology internship at the Animal Health Trust followed by a residency at Willows Referral Service. She became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2018.
