Dr Stephanie Borer-Germann


EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology

Stephanie received her veterinary degree at the University of Zurich in the year 2002. She started her career in the Equine Clinic of the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zurich (Equine Internal Medicine; including rotations as well as emergency duty in the Food Animal Clinic, Equine Surgery and Anaesthesia), where she worked as an assistant and Doctorate Student from 2002 to 2005. During this time period she wrote her doctoral Thesis: “clinical use of interleukin-12 und interleukin-18 encoding pasmid-DNA for the therapy of equine sarcoids”. In 2005 she completed a clinical rotation in the Small Animal Clinic of the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich (Anaesthesiology, Small Animal Internal Medicine and Surgery), followed by a residency program in the opthalmology department of the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zurich form 2006 to 2008 under the supervision of Prof. Bernhard Spiess and Dr. Marianne Richter.
She successfully took her ECVO Certifying Examination in the year 2010.
From 2009 to 2020 Stephanie worked as a staff clinician and clinical instructor at the opthalmology unit, Vetsuisse Faculty University of Berne.
In 2010 she created OphtaVet, a consulting service in veterinary ophthalmology, and since then works in Geneva and the whole Lake Geneva Region area as a specialist in veterinary ophthalmology for all species.
