Dr Wiebke Jansen


EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Public Health - Food Science

Wiebke Jansen received her veterinary degree from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (Germany) in 2010, including an internship at the World Health Organization, where she was placed in the Regional Office for Europe in the Food Safety Programme . In 2012, she completed her doctoral thesis on the in vivo effect of organic acids in poultry on Campylobacter. From 2012 on, she was ECVPH Resident and got a Diplomat in 2017. She finished her PhD at the Integrated Veterinary Research Unit of the University of Namur (Belgium) in 2019. Her PhD focused on the detection and characterisation of zoonotic pathogens in non-EU food imports and her main research interests included the improvement of detection methods of neglected zoonoses, the interaction of milk-borne pathogens with the host and in dairy products. She currently works as Veterinary Policy Officer at the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe.
