Prof. dr. Mathias Devreese graduated as a veterinarian in 2010 (Ghent University, Belgium). After graduation, he immediately started his PhD research at the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology. During his PhD research he performed a research stay of several months at the Department of Animal Biosciences at the University of Guelph (ON, Canada). After gaining his PhD in 2013, he obtained a post-doctoral research grant from the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) to establish a juvenile piglet model for preclinical pediatric pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic research. In 2015, he was appointed as assistant professor of veterinary pharmacology and therapeutics at Ghent University. He took a research sabbatical in 2016 at the Institute of Computational Comparative Medicine (ICCM) at Kansas State University (KS, USA).
Mathias Devreese is a fellow of the American Academy of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics (AAVPT) and the European Association for Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology (EAVPT) and a member of the Animal Health Modeling and Simulation Society (AHMSS). He also serves as an associate editor for the journal BMC Veterinary Research (Pharmacology and Toxicology section).
