Erika Crook graduated from Michigan State University vet school in 1997. She worked for a few years in emergency / critical care medicine before doing a zoo and aquarium internship at the Lincoln Park Zoo and Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, Illinois and then a 3 year residency at the Saint Louis Zoo, Missouri. She is currently an Associate Veterinarian at Utah’s Hogle Zoo. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Zoological Medicine in 2008 and is on the ACZM Board Exam Committee and Chair for the terrestrial mammal / general zoo subsection. She has done field work in the Galapagos Islands, Madagascar, Armenia and Papua New Guinea and hopes to have more field work experiences in the future. She is an Inspector for the Association and Zoos and Aquariums, the Tree Kangaroo Veterinary co-advisor, and runs her zoo’s Science Review Committee. She loves living in Utah and has 2 young daughters.
