Mental Health support campaign for Ukrainian veterinary colleagues
We know all know that the veterinary profession can be stressful and many of our colleagues are experiencing mental health challenges. For our Ukrainian colleagues, this situation has been significantly compounded by the ongoing war. In order to provide essential professional mental health support to the Ukrainian veterinary community, we have set up a fundraising campaign.
The project has been initiated by Natalia Ignatenko (European Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Oncology), Petra Agthe (European Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging) and the team of the Galaxy Vet Foundation (who are helping with hosting of the fundraising campaign website and other online resources), who are supported by a number of other colleagues.
Funds are being used to provide psychologist led online group courses in a psychological intervention developed by the WHO, which has been shown to be highly effective in crisis situations, including armed conflict and forced displacement. Additionally, we are hoping to provide webinars and (donations allowing) also individual psychotherapy and counselling for colleagues in need who cannot access this support elsewhere. The support is provided by Ukrainian psychologists and open to all Ukrainian veterinary professionals, those in Ukraine and those displaced and can be accessed here: https://galaxyvets.foundation/uk/допомога-ветеринарам-україни/
We would be hugely grateful if you could consider supporting this project. Donations can be made on the following website https://galaxyvets.foundation/campaigns/mental-health-support-for-ukrainian-veterinary-professionals/. If you are not in a position to donate, you can still help us by sharing information about this campaign with your colleagues and veterinary organisations and/or volunteer to help with organisational aspects of this project. Please contact natali.ignatenko@gmail.com or petra.agthe@gmail.com if you have any further questions about this initiative.
Many thanks for your support!
