Great Western Exotics has a long established avian residency programme. Residents work towards ECZM (avian) diploma. The programme is four years in duration and is offered for full-time attendance only. Candidates will be considered from both a practice and internship background. Candidates would need to meet the residency entry requirements of the ECZM – either two years in varied general practice, or a one year rotating internship.

The residency programme will consist of clinical cases, externship, conference speaking, research, scientific publications and teaching. The position is subject to a monitoring period of six months with additional annual review. The first year consists of a pre-residency internship followed by a standard 3 year ECZM residency program.

Residents will take part in a 1 in 4 OOH rota – including weekends. Emergency and OOH work is an important part of the residency and a requirement of the ECZM.

Experience in clinical practice is essential.  If English is your second language you will need to provide evidence that meet the programmes English language entry level requirements. 

You must be, or eligible to be, a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
